2/26/1757: Power of Attorney- Thomas Simmons, farmer, and Ann my wife, of Craven Co, NC, appoint my trusty and well beloved friend Thomas Prettyman, Esqr gentleman of Sussex Co, my atty to make over a tract of land agreeable to a bond given to Paul Waples..... 2/26/1757: Bond of Conveyance- Thomas Simmons and Ann his wife, formerly Ann Luis, both of Craven Co, NC, am firmly bound unto Paul Waples, merchant of Sussex Co, in the sum of 60 pds.....the condition of this obligation is such that if Thomas Simmons and Ann his wife shall make over or impower some atty to make over a tract of land in Indian River, adj land of Thomas Carey & William Burton, who is decd, and formerly belonged to one John Williams, who by his will gave the same to Mary his wife and Mary bequeathed it to her grandchild Ann Luis, now Ann Simmons, then this present obligation to be void.
