"The Daily Olympian, " of Tuesday, October 22, 1968, pg. 8 Olympia, Thurston County, WA Zaza F. Simmons Zaza F. Simmons, founder of the Simmons Oyster Company on Mud Bay, died Tuesday in an Olympia hospital. Mr. Simmons was born in Kamilche August 21, 1878, the son of Christopher C. and Asemath Simmons. He had been in good health until several months ago. He was a locomotive engineer in early life and had operated logging trains for the Mason County Logging Company, the Mud Bay Logging Company and Weyerhauser Logging Company until going into the oyster business 35 years ago. His company delivers oysters to most of the major hotels and restaurants in western Washington. Mr. Simmons was a member of the United Churches, Olympia Elk's Lodge and was a life member of Olympia Moose Lodge. He was married to Miss Marguerite Riley in 1903. She died here in 1936. He married Myrtle Hicks here in 1945 and she survives him. Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Leo (Chris) Morand, Olympia; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Weaver, Malone, and Mrs. Bertha Peterson, Olympia; three stepsons: Gwen and Richard Hicks, both of Olympia and Urban Hicks, Phoenix, Arizona; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held in the MIlls and Mills chapel this Saturday afternoon, starting at one o'clock. The Reverend Maurice L.
