Am trying to connect these families. I am descended from Voluntine Simmons b about 1790 in VA. We think his first wife was Betsy Choat (not proven). Cathy "Cassie" Choate was Powhaton Choate's sister and married John Ed Simmons. John was soldier of Revolution, serving several campaigns against Great Britain.
