From "Thomas and Laura Silver [sic] Smith Family" by Ralph and Evelyn Wolf July 1980, DeKalb County [MO] Heritage, pp 3-4:
"Lorrinda (Laura) Silvers was the daughter of Hugh and Elizabeth Silvers. She was born in Pulaski County, Kentucky in 1811. Laura came to Columbia, Missouri with her parents about 1815. Her brother, Golden Silvers was born at Columbia in 1819. Later the family moved to Jackson County, Missouri. Hugh Silvers, Laura's father, was a native of Rowan County, North Carolina."
Hugh Silvers is listed in the 1830 Jackson Co MO census. In 1850, a Hugh Silvers, age 27, is listed, with wife Mary [Morgan]. Given the same location, he is probably another son.
The name of Elizabeth for Hugh Sr.s wife does not match the name Mary Davis given in some sources. However, the family record could have confused Hugh's wife with that of John Silvers.
