Hi Phyllis -

Since your post was dated 2001, I'm not sure if this will get to you or if you're even still searching for information on Lucinda Silvernail Whaley.

I've searched for her under 'Lucina,' not Lucinda, which may be why there is less information available. Her son Ur (Irving) Whaley is my ancestor, so his line is what I'm interested in. It looks like you know a bit more than me about her other children. I know that she was born in the village of Elbridge, Onondaga County, NY in 1831 according to the 1850-1880 US Censuses. According to previous trees my relatives have made, she also died in Elbridge, in 1897. So you were right about the date range of her life.

Unfortunately, I don't know when she married James Whaley or who her parents were; I'm currently trying to search out that information. What line are you trying to trace, using Lucina's information? I found out from that in the 1840s 57% of all families with the last name 'Silvernail' lived in New York - and that there were only 50-60 families in total in New York.

I hope all of this helps. If you're still searching these nine years after your post, I'd love to know what you have uncovered.

Thanks for the post!
