James Lowther Silva Carvalho married Mary Ann Pressman in London 1834.
1861 Census has him in London - born Madeira abt 1808.
The family later reverted to the Lowther surname, using Carvalho as a middle name - I can find no other mention of the Silva.
How did James come to have 3 surnames - which belonged to which parent - and would I stand any chance of finding a record of him anywhere in Madeira and how? Apologies for so many q's at once.
