Antonio and Philimina Sylva or Silva or College

I am trying to do a little research for my Step-Mother. Apparently her paternal grandparents immigrated to the US from Portugal. Their last name was SYLVA or SILVA. She thinks they may have immigrated under cloudy circumstances and changed their name in the process. Possibly their name before was COLLEGE (pronounced Ka-leej). Antonio and Philamina had two sons; Anthony, who spelled his name SILVA and John who spelled his name SYLVA. My step mother is John's daughter and spelled her maiden name SYLVA.

John was born September 19, 1910 and died January 6, 1954. He married Grace Elizabeth Hall (Dec 24, 1910 - Aug 16, 1967) on February 15, 1936.

All of these people lived in Rhode Island, so I assume Antonio and Philimina settled there when they came to the US.

My objective is to find out as much information on Antonio and Philimina. When they were born and died, married immigrated, etc.

Thanks in advance for any help.

God bless,
Andy
