I am a history writer seeking information on Colonel William C. Silliman The information I have gathered so far:

From NYS Military Records:

William Silliman who in 1861 at the age of 24 enlisted in the 7th Reg. NYS Cavalry at Troy, NY. He mustered in as a 1st Lt. of Company D.

He mustered into the 124th NY Infantry as a Captain and Adjutant on July 16th, 1862. The 124th Inf were called the "Orange Blossoms" and were raised in Orange Country, NY

On February 1, 1864 he was promoted to Colonel and accpeted the color flag for the newly formed Unites States Colored Infantry, 26th division at Albany,NY

Colonel William C. Silliman died on December 17, 1864 of wounds he received in action at Georgia Farms, SC

Any further information about where William C. Silliman came from?
