Hi Art, Just got back and did get a few things that I can share. I found a great genealogist in Co. Galway that I think will be able to help with all silk's. He will start with the silk's in Loughrea and Tuam. He says that are two families of silk's One being the O'sheedy's and the other being the Mac Sheedy's. He feels that we probably come from the Mac Sheedy's.
Also I was in the national library and saw the rent rolls for the Killtullagh Parish in Co. Roscommon and there is Patrick Silk in Castlerea in 1709 and then the land passes to Michael. will see there is takes us
