Silk, Silke, Silks, Zilk, Zylks origin
I believe it is posible that the surname ZYLKS has its roots in the surname SILK.Have you discovered a common root? The Zylks's are a small group in the USA and only a few reside out of the country ( with varoius spellings).I want to find my ancestor who's name was changed from Silk to Zilk (Zylks). If, in fact that is what happened, all speculation. Where did he come from before showing up in Charleston S.C. USA 1700's.Or was it common (to any degree) to use the spelling Z for S and Y for I.Any information would be nice to receive.
Thanks, Sam McIntyre
