Couldn't find the article/page you were referring to. However, I wanted to point out a different aspect of the history. The name Sikorski has been recorded in the history as nobelty serving different coats of arms as early as the XI-th century. Around that time, Poland has not experienced much, if any, Jewish settlements ( which came about at least two centuries later.)

Although the root of the word "Sikorski" does bear resemblance to the word "sikora" or "sikorka" I am not certain that it is, indeed, where the name derives its roots. It could be a name of a town.

Finally, at least in modern polish, there is no connection between black/white and sikora. It's as loose as stating that "deer" means brown, because a deer is brown.
