Did any of these Sikes you mentioned have a son named William born about 1818? I am looking for the parents and siblings of a William Matthew Sikes born Aug. 27, 1818 in NC The earliest census record we have for William Matthew Sikes is the 1850 Rusk Co., TX census, but we know he lived in Florida (maybe Leon Co) between 1846 and 1850. He married first Emily Patterson (born about 1830). Their oldest son was Napoleon Bonaparte b. Sept. 7, 1846 in FL and their next son was James Henry Sikes b. Mar. 24, 1848 in FL. According to a brief bio on the life of NB Sikes we know they moved to Texas in the first part of 1850. I haven't been able to find William Sikes on the 1840 census in Florida, but he may have been fighting in the Second Seminole War. I'm very curious to correspond with others researching NC Sikes families.
