Dear Mr. Mills,

You helped me a few years ago, when I was preparing a book on the Bassett family of Ft. Valley, GA., for which I again thank you. In the course of gathering data and requesting material on the family be contributed, I came by a couple of Bible pages mentioning Sikes. They were apparently lose pages in the Hardison family Bible dating to the mid-1800's. There was a Hardison/Bassett/Sikes marriage somewhere back then. Anyway, these pages mention the following;

Joshua F. Sikes Born Sept. 26, 1828
Nancy Sikes Born July 28, 1833
(above are actually names of husband and wife, see below)

---?-- Matthew Fitzgerald Sikes Born July 21, 1852
Charles Glenn Sikes Born March 16, 1853

Then the following entry;
"Little Dock has gone away.
His little soul is now in Heaven.
He took his flight 21st of May, Eighteen hundred and fifty seven."
Little Charlie too had gone two days before his brother died and in Fort Valley Graveyard they are sweetly sleeping side by side.
Dear ones though to us once given
Hand in hand are gone to Heaven.

On a second page is mention of the marriage of Joshua F. Sikes and Nancy Sikes on the 9th of Sept. 1849.

Would be glad to send a copy if anyone is interested.

Sue Bassett Folawn/San Mateo, CA
