Yes, I have in the notes that Jacob Isaac Signer/Signor b 14 July 1801 married Catherine Hasbrouck (in smaller handwritten note) d.22 July 1849.The Rebecca Signor , age 22 (1850 census) is apparently his daughter along with the other children - David age 20, Sarah age 17, Isaac age 13 and Fanny age 12.His occupation is listed as sheriff and with the family are 10 others. Four convicts and four "insane" .The others must be helpers.
On the 1840 census, which I did not copy and which do not list names, are several men which would lead me to believehe was a sheriff at that time although the town was not Kingston bur still in Ulster county.Name was listed as Jacob Signer in 1840-Signor in 1850.
His parents I believe are Jacob Signor and Catherine Coner/Conaro/ Conroe? Have never found much on that line. Only an Isaac Conaro in Columbia County. A possible brother if memory serves me.(It does fail sometimes!!)
I think I have a copy of the Church records which I photocopied several years ago.
If you can check the 1860 census for Jacob and Rachel but I do not have the index.NY has 1869 dividedinto North, South,East and West for the counties and Ulster is in the South. Most of the counties in 1860 for me are the west and north.Ancestry.com has the census for 1860 but no index for NY.
That is amusing about the birth of your grandmother and death of Jacob. We have a few May/Dec. marriages in our family, too.
Mary
