Peter Siegfried of Maxatawny
Posted by: Barbara McDonnell (ID *****2879) Date: April 09, 2006 at 19:00:12
  of 277

This Peter was b. 19 Feb 1757 to Johannes Siegfried and
Catharina Federolf. He m. Catharina _____________. They lived in Maxatawny Twp., had seven children:

Johannes- m. Eva Ewart
Catharine- m. Jacob Leibold, moved to Delaware Co., OH 1836
Maria
Gertraut
Rebecca
Lydia
Peter

Peter d. either 30 May 1822 (date on headstone in Siegfried's Cemetery, Siegfried's Dale) or 3 Apr 1821 (date on two Letters of Administration).

Does anyone KNOW the surname of Peter Siegfried's wife, Catharina? I have seen Muench, Minnig, Munnig, Minnic, Minnick, etc. What is the source of this information? I need more clues, please. Does anyone KNOW when Peter actually died, where, what from? The 1820 Census lists "Pete" in Maxatawny, but the household members don't tally, so I don't know how much faith can be put in that census. A few other folks have listed Peter as being from Greenwich Twp., which is also where Catharina Munnig, etc., was from. No variation of Munnig shows up in the four baptismal records for children of Catharine Siegfried and Jacob Leibold. Catharina's brother, Johannes Siegfried and his wife, Eva Ewart were sponsors of two of the children. Amos Klauser and Esther sponsored one. The fourth was sponsored by Michael Federolf and Magdalena.

Any scraps of information or possible clues are invited.
Thanks in advance.
