I have at least 5 Robert Sidney/Sydney's in our geneolgy. My Great Grandfather Robert Chase Sydney, His father Robert Chase Sidney, his father Sir Wm. Robert Sydney Kt. Your Liverpool listings are interesting and have passed them on to my UK cousins as their resources are far greater than mine. The Sir. Robert Sidney/Sydney's Earls of Leichester, prior to 1743 are from a line that ended with a Robert Sydney, B. 6th May,1675. Ob. 17, Jan.1680. This family continued through the Daughters who married Shelly's & Perry's. One of their sons married the illegitamate daughter of William IV of england and he by Royal Licence changed their name from Shelly to Sidney and honered them with the title The Barony of DeLisle & Dudley. My ancestors fought this family for over 40 years ending up in the House of Lords, with the Lords finding for the Shelly/Perry side with regard to the Lands at Penshurst but allowed my line (Jocelyn Sydney) to continue to use the titles & honors of the Sidney family of Penshurst.
The only Sir. Robert Sydneys since then are from a Nova Scotia Baronancy which no one has claimed since Robert Chase Sydney of Maidehead England. ob. 12th Dec. 1887.
