Hi Michelle, I just read Brian Sides message to you. Yes, I too am interested in Leonard Sides. My Leonard was married to a Christina, and I knew he was from N.C. and also they lived in Illinois, posibly were married there. In a family bible at my great Uncle Joe Sides, from Ada, OK, was written the name of Richard D. Sides, first county treasurer of Carson City Utah Territory, 1852. Anyway when I saw my Uncle Joe, I told him my husband and I were moving to Carson CIty, in Nov. 1974, this was that next month. It took me awhile but I went to the state archivist, Guy ROcha, and he gave me a lot of info on Richard D. Sides, Leonard and Christina who had moved her, and their son William. I have always thougth that Richard D aka R.D. Sides might have been Leonard's son too, according to the census records. The other Leonard Sides' I have found had wives named Sally and I cannot remember if there was 2 or 3 total. I know a Leonard Sides also resided in Indiana. I need to drive up to Virginia City again, where I had found some records, and also back at our fairly new Archives building and SPEND THE DAY!!! Mark Twain wrote of R.D. Sides, as being quite the character in Washoe Valley. The town's name then was Franktown, and they all had lived in that area. R.D. died at the Winter's Ranch in Washoe Valley in Nune 1902. I cannot find though where he was buried. The archivist said the fact this information was in a family bible, there has to be a connection to Richard. I can't for the life of me find how he fits in with all of us!!!! However, they don't call me SANDY THE SLEUTH FOR NOTHING. HA HA R.D. Sides did marry a Marinda Burdick from Illinois, they married in Virginia City. Carpe Diem, Sandy SIDES Castor Carson City, NV 89705 Notify Administrator about this message?
