Hi Michelle,
I believe that Leonard Sides had 3 wives, one named Suffy, Catherine and cannot remember the other one. The LEONARD SIDES that I am looking for was born in either NC or SC, and married a Christina Lyerly. I believe she was born in Illinois, a name like Union COunty or City, Il. They all came west with a son William, and 2 daughters. In the Nevada History books and census they lived in Washoe Valley, with also a son? Richard D. Sides. In Oct. 1974 I was visitibg my great uncle Joseph Sides in Ada, OK. I told him we were going to move to Carson City, NV in November. He asked me to bring him their family bible, he was in a wheelchair. I did, and inside the front page was written R.D. SIDES, FIRST COUNTY TREASURER OF CARSOB CITY, UTAH TERRITORY.....I had no idea about R.D. which was Richard, but not sure what the middle name was. Anyway, I went to our State Archives, and spoke to Guy Rocha our State Archivist. He just retired a few months ago. I told him about the bible, etc, and he told me he never thought he would ever neet a descendent of R.D. Sides. He was quite a colorful man in the area at that time. Mark Twain wrote he thought "DICK' as he referred to him was a most colorful character!!!! However, he did marry a Marinda Burdick from that same town in Illinois and traveled out here with Leonard and family. ANYWAY, BEING A TAURUS, I will not give up. ha ha I'm not stubborn, just determinded.
His birth was around 1825, and died in Washoe Valley in 1902 or 1903. I still cannot find where he was buried, but the history books say he had a Masonic funeral. If you ever get a chance to read any books on Nevada History, it is very interesting.
I know one Leonard Sides did move his family to Indiana, according to census records.
I will try and find out more for you.

Carpe Diem,
Sandy SIDES Castor
Carson City, NV 89705
