One descendant of Nelson Sides b c 1805 NC m Martha "Patsy" Hatley has tested with 25 markers. Need to have another Sides male of direct descent from a different son to test.
Nelson had sons: Daniel Alexander b June 5, 1829. Ransom Sides b Oct 6, 1830. Joseph Monroe Sides b Feb 23, 1832, Henry William Sides b Dec 20, 1835, Edney Sides b 1841 and Wesley Sides b 1843 (and of my line Green Harrison Sides b 1845). I haven't been able to determine what happened to Daniel A, although this *might* be him on the 1870 Stanly Co NC census -D A Sides 40 with Nancy A ?. Ransom Sides apparently died in 1864 and I don't know that he had any children. Joseph Monroe Sides had two sons, James N b 1873 and William B b 1872- I haven't been able to follow if there are any male descendants in that line. Henry William Sides had sons William A and Marshall H and I believe there are males of that line living now. Edney Sides died in the CSA and I have no information on Wesley Sides.
