I am working on a Barr family who left Lancaster County, Pennsylvania in the latter half of the 1830s for Ohio and Indiana. Both Sides and Howry are names associated with this family.
Off hand I can't place your Samuel and Mary (Rutter) Sides, but note that one of their children has the middle name Barr, which usually means there is a family relationship. How are the Howrys connected?
The family I am working on is that of Abraham Barr and his wife Susanna "Betsy" Brenneisen, believed to be the widow of John Howry, the Younger. Susanna had three daughters by her first husband and nine children by Abraham. I have found connections between the two families in census records, although until recently I didn't know of the existence of the first family.
I am presently looking for the children of their daughter Sarah Barr, who first married John Sides and had five children. After his death she married John Dance and was widowed again in 1836. I want to locate Sarah (Barr Sides) Dance in the 1840 census. I have found all of her children except Peter Sides.
Perhaps we can find some connections.
