Sarah Siddon's son George John Siddons was the godson of King George IV. George Siddons joined the East India Company in 1802 as a "writer" and had a long career as an administrator in Bengal. There are a few references in biographies of Sarah Siddons to a royal connection but the only facts are that she was a favourite of the Prince Regent as demonstrated by his becoming George Siddons' godfather and sponsoring his entry into the Indian Civil Service.
