Florence Aanenson, 83, of Luverne, died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2006, at Sioux Valley Hospice Cottage, Luverne.
Born Sept. 2, 1923, on a farm near Lechter, SD, she was the daughter of Herbert and Nora Dell Moore Sibson. She married Russell Aanenson Sept. 2, 1941. He died May 2, 1999.
When she was 3 years old, she moved with her family to another farm seven miles southeast of Artesian, SD where she attended country school. In 1937, she moved with her parents to a farm by Kenneth. Upon completing her education, she helped on the family farm and helped her neighbor. After marriage, the couple rented a farm near Edgerton. Two years later, they moved to a farm north of Kenneth, then moved to the Aanenson family farm by Magnolia. She began to work at an income tax business in Lismore and at the office of Galles Feed and Fertilizaer; Adrian, for more than seven years. She went to night school at Worthington Junior College and completed an accounting course. In 1963 they retired from farming and moved to Luverne. She became employed as a bookkeeper at Sioux Quality, which later became IBP. She worked there for more than 23 years and retired in 1984 as the office manager. On Nov. 3, 2006, she became a resident at Sioux Valley Hospice Cottage. She was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church, Luverne, a member of the Maplewood Cemetery Auxiliary, where she had served as a chair person, and was a member of the Stitch and Chatter Extension Club.
Surviving are five sons, Keith (Audrey) Aanenson, Luverne; Lee (Caryl) Aanenson, Oakdale; Dale (Marvie) Aanenson, Fridley; Alan (Janice) Aanenson, Dent; and Gene (Deb) Aanenson, Luverne; 13 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present throughout, at the Hartquist Funeral Home, Engebretson Chapel, Luverne.
The service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Grace Lutheran Church, Luverne, with the Rev. Dell Sanderson officiating. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Luverne.
