Enlistment Date: 12 August 1861
Distinguished Service: Side Served: Union
State Served: New York
Unit Numbers: 1524 1524
Service Record: Enlisted as a Wagoner on 12 August 1861 at the age of 32
Enlisted in Company G, 49th Infantry Regiment New York on 30 August 1861.
Received a disability discharge Company G, 49th Infantry Regiment New York on 15 December 1862 in New York, NY
Widow Mary Shutts pensioned in PA 1885 but Alonzo is dead by 1880 when Mary is in Westfield a widow
* in 1870 he and Mary lived in Westfield , Alonzo born Canada, now 40 a cabinet maker, Mary 36 NY, Charles 16, *Frank (Francis) 14, Libby 12, Clarisa 11, John 10, Hattie 6, Nellie 3, William 1
in 1880 Mary is alone now with children John, Hattie, Nellie William and youngest son James age 8
In Westfield Cemetery is
Shutts, Alonzo J. Civil War. 1828—1878
Mary BOOTH, his w. 1834—1905.
Frank A. 1855—1926.
