I show Jacob Peter Shutts married to Nellie Francis Butts. A female child from the union named Helen Francis Shutts born August 2, 1908 in Hays, KS in the county of Ellis. It would make sense that the 2 sons you mention would be William and James as Helen's 2 sons were also names William and James. She married William A. (Adair?) Aust.
By way of explanation, Helen was my grandmother and the son William my father. Lot's of Williams in this family! Helen's husband William died in 1933 I believe, when my father was 9, of phnemonia. That's actually kind of a funny story. I mean sad, but the circumstances were amusing.
The 2 children borne of William and Helen are: "W" (William) Adair Aust, January 9, 1924 and James Edgar Aust, January 9, 1925. Interesting, eh?
