There's another Shurtleff bible on eBay -- Item # 1555171980
an 1851 Leather bound Holy Bible.It is the Butler’s Edition.Published by E.H. BUTLER,Philadelphia.The first 2 pages are color plates.The third page reads…”THE HOLY BIBLE, CONTAINING THE OLD AND NEW TESTAMENTS: TRANSLATED OUT OF THE ORIGINAL TONGUES; AND WITH THE FORMER TRANSLATIONS DILIGENTLY COMPARED AND REVISED. WITH RFERENCES AND VARIOUS READINGS. TOGETHER WITH THE APOCRYPHA” This is Vol. I. Hand written on the second blank page is the following inscription: “Presented to E. Shurtleff By his Father Aug.16.1885” The gold embossed and carved front and back covers have broken away from the spine.The covers are in very good but not perfect condition.The pages are in EXCELLENT near mint condition with many beautiful color plates and black and white etchings.On the "FAMILY RECORD MARRIAGES" page,the following is hand written..."Amhose K. and Lorinda Married July,7th,1839." The following is on the BIRTHS page:"A.K. Shurtleff Aug.12th 1815.Lorinda Shurtleff July 8th,1819.Sarah Curtis Shurtleff Dec 19th 1841.Ambrow Curtis Shurtleff Aug 2nd 1848." There is one marriages page,2 births pages,2 deaths pages and 2 remarks pages.There are well over a thousand pages.This bible measures 11 ½ by 10 by 4 inches.It weighs 10 pounds.
