My great great grandfather, Aaron Martin Burnham, had a sister, Ellen, who married George Henry Shurtleff in the Northfield vicinity around 1859.
I recently came into possession of a (digitized) photo, circa 1910, of Aaron's son George Julian Burnham's family, accompanied by a number of unidentified individuals. One of them has been tentatively identified as a Shurtleff, possibly a daughter of George and Ellen Shurtleff. Some of the others bear a strong resemblance to her and may be Shurtleff's as well.
This woman's growth was stunted as a result of the Scarlet Fever she contracted as a child, or at least that's how my mother remembers it. She recalls this woman visiting the house that she grew up in, in Waterbury.
