What a wonderful help you have been. I had given up hope on ever finding anyone looking at this bunch.
This is what I know about my g.g. grandpa Wadford Pressley Shuler.
1871 I find him in Burleson Co., Texas where he married Mary Jane Moore.
1872 Wadford and Mary have first child in Milam Co., Texas
1874 a child born in Lee Co., Texas
1880 found family on Lee Co., texas census. It states that both of Wadfords parents were born in South Carolina.
1881 a child born in Hamilton Co., Texas
1884 a child born in Lampasas Co., Texas
1890 Have not found a census record as of right now but I asume that the family was still in Lampasas Co., Texas because another child was born there in 1891
1891 child born in Lampasas Co., Texas
1900 census record Lampasas Co., Texas
1908 I know the family had moved to southern Oklahoma by 1908 because Wadfords mother in law is buried in Foster, Oklahoma (Garvin Co.)
1910 Census record Garvin Co., Oklahoma
1913 Wadford died. Burried in Foster, OK. Garvin Co.
I spoke to Beverly Shuler from the Orangeburg German Swiss Gen. Society several years ago and she directed me to look into the family we posted about above. I looked, but not thoroughly. I did however look into the Texas Shuler's. Especially the ones coming from South Carolina (Joab Shuler bunch) I thought there might be some family relation that made my Wadford Pressley join family in Texas. I have not found anything to tie any of that in either.
What you posted about John Shuler seems somewhat relevant as before the marriage liscense in Burleson Co., Texas we had only found Wadford listed as either W.P. or Wad. (Could be John's Vad ... but the birth date would be 2 years off ??)
I have seen where other researchers online have claimed that my Wadford Pressley is the son of a Wade Shuler, but I am not convinced and can never get anyone who posted the information to email me back. I am curious as to where they got their proof. I have yet to see any South Carolina census record that would make Wadford the son of Wade. I would love to find out who he belonged to. There are several of us working on him and he is definitely our brick wall.
I will go read what you posted in the Wannamaker forum.
