Larry we have communicated quite a few times. I also think that the only logical choice for Mary's parents are Solomon and Rebecca, my problem with her is her birth date and the birthdate of John Groves and Mary Shrout's first child Mary Elizabeth Groves. In the 1860 census Mary Elizabeth Groves was listed "May E. 25". That indicates that she would have been born in about 1835. Solomon Shrout's daughter has been reported to have been born in 1824. If the two years of birth are correct, Mary Shrout would have been 11 years when her daughter was born. Mary was in the right location at the right time, but unless the years of birth are incorrect, she would have been to young to be John Groves'wife. I could believe she was Solomon's daughter if she was born in 1821 or earlier or if Mary Elizabeth was born in 1838 or later.
