Thank you for the information about the Shreve family. I do have some more questions that I hope that you can answer!

I am trying to trace the movements of the Shreve families because they were strongly associated with my Butt family in Mason County, Kentucky, Adams/Brown County, Ohio and in Indiana. (Jonathan Shreve m. Polly Butt(s) for instance!).

You have traced the Shreve line from Caleb b. ca 1652 (in Rhode Island) to his sons, Joshua Shreve b. 1692 and Benjamin Shreve b. 1706 – were they born in Rhode Island or on Long Island? There must have been at least two more generations between Joshua b. 1692 and John/Jonathan b. 1784 NJ.

At what point did the family immigrate to Pennsylvania? Did your branch of the family settle there also? What county in Pennsylvania did they settle in? And when did they settle there?

I would really like to identify Mary (aka Polly) Butt’s parents. I believe that Mary might have been an aunt to my ancestor, Regnal N. Butt, b. ca 1794 in Maryland. I have read that Mary/Polly and John/Jonathan married in Pennsylvania – but so far as I know, no marriage RECORD has been found. Isn’t it also possible that they married in New Jersey before moving to Pennsylvania. By understanding the movements of the Shreve families, I may find that important link to the Butt families.

Thank you for any additional information that you can give me regarding the migration patterns of this Shreve family.
