Hi, Tigger: I can't directly connect any of these Shrakes to what I have, but the data I have include lots of gaps and unproven relationships. Until now, I had seen none of my Shrakes in Morgan Co, but in several other counties in that part of IN.
I have a George Isaac Shrake, b. 1794, who married a Rody Mattox, and he is probably of about the right age at least. I also have a possible John Shrake, b. bef. 1800, who married 1823 Eliza Vest. I have a Jacob Shrake, but he wasn't born until 1824. I have no Adam.
Other than descendants of my George Shrake, I have seen indications of another tribe of Shrakes in Ohio in the early 1800s. The name, or at least the spelling, is rare enough that I wouldn't be surprised if they were related. I have no proof of that, however. But this is another possibility for your Shrakes.
I suspect, but so far can't prove, that the Shrakes emanate from the Schreck/Shrak/etc. families that lived among the German Brethren settlers of Brothers Valley Twp in Somerset Co PA.
Please let me know if you get any further clues. Thanks for checking in.
