Thank you again, JC. Another gen friend has shared some of her research on the Shoups. She finds Filo and Lois Shoup making several land transactions in Burke Co NC between 1947 and 1951. (See Message No. 789 posted on this Genforum April 28, 2009 by Mary Harmon for more information on this.) I do not have Filo or Lois's death dates but these land records prove both were alive until at least 1951. Several of the grants were to M.E. and Viola Shoup. (They are their son and daughter-in-law, Marvin Estes and Mary Viola (Hipp) Shoup.) Filo Shoup's WWI draft registration shows he was born O6 Dec 1883, listed as Ephram Philo Shoup. He is the son of Peter W. ("Washington," "Wash") Shoup and Susan ("Susie", "Susina") Smith Shoup. Did you find anything showing that the data you post for Lois Bumgardner or "Pearl Shoup" shows her spouse's name as Filo Shoup? In the Social Security data for Lois Bumgardner, shouldn't her name be listed as "Lois Shoup"? Can any of you readers out there tell me who were the parents of the Lois Bumgardner (or Crotts?) that married Filo Shoup??? That would solve my puzzle! Thanks much, Dru Notify Administrator about this message?
