Dear Katie, Thanks so much for replying to my posting. I have seen that William Shortridge had land dealings with Edward Emms. Can you tell me how it is known that Edward Emms' wife was Mary Stubblefield, daughter of Thomas and Ellen (Hackley) Stubblefield and how it is known that she married William Shortridge after Emms died? I am totally lost in trying to find any proof on this. If this is the right Mary Stubblefield, a Stubblefield chancery suit revealed that she had two other husbands, as well. The last two husbands must have been after the death of William Shortridge. Thank you for your help. Are you descended from William Shortridge?
