Can anyone tell me how it is known that William Shortridge (father of George Shortridge, Sr., b. ca 1728, of Fairfax Co., VA, and Bourbon Co., KY) married Mary Stubblefield, daughter of Thomas Stubblefield and Ellen Hackley? William Shortridge had a wife, Mary, who apparently was the mother of George, above, but she could not have been the daughter of Thomas Stubblefield and Ellen Hackley. Their daughter, Mary Stubblefield, was born later than William Shortridge's son, George Shortridge, Sr. Could Mary Stubblefield have been the second wife of William Shortridge?
