Do you have dates for your Ben Shortridge?

I have two in the Grundy area--

First I have Benjamin (Murphy) Shortridge, born in 1857, son of Polly Shortridge and Edmond Murphy. (Edmond was murdered--Polly changed the surname of the children to Shortridge--possibly to protect them) Benjamin was best known by the name Benny Shortridge. He was murdered in an incident that became a source of racial tension in Buchanan Co. Supposedly he lived on the Prater. He had a wife named Betty??--children were Laura, Nancy, Vandalia, Dick, Polly, and Mattie.

Second I have the previous Benjamin's uncle, brother to Polly, Benjamin F. Shortridge who was born in 1839. He married an Elizabeth.
