My great-great grandmother was Anne/Anastasia Shortall/Shortal, born c. 1828 in Johnstown, Co. Kilkenny, and married Richard Whittendale in Callan in 1848. Shortly thereafter they emigrated to Manayunk, PA (now Philadelphia), and later to Gloucester City, NJ. Her brother Patrick remained in Urlingford, Kilkenny; her sisters Sarah and Margaret, and possibly Ellen, also came to America. Their parents' names were Nicholas Shortal and Catherine Welsh. Any connections?
