I am the administrator for the SHORT DNA Project.

Do you have additional information on David Freeman SHORT? Are you a descendant? Who is your earliest known SHORT? The lines that John mentioned have the same ancestry as S-44 on the SHORT DNA Patriarch's Page.

Note that S-44 does not DNA match S-1 who claims ancestry back to the same original William SHORT. The results for both are shown in the results page:

Have you considered DNA testing? I think some of the lines of the original William get speculative in the 1700s due to burned counties. I believe that what may have happened is that two different SHORT lines have been combined into all being considered descendants of the original William.

There are numerous people (descended from females at some point) that are very interested in this line(s). The more SHORTs that may descend from this line that DNA test, the better idea we will have of sorting out the different lines.
