on the rookings connection.............i am going to believe for now that they were a couple. it seems to me that somewhere a will or some writing mentioned a 'cousin' mary short in some rookings papers. i don't know exactly what the term meant back then, but today it seems to go to the point of the 'upstairs maid and/or the downstairs butler seven times removed' if one wants to place someone in their family. some of it is good for a smile if nothing else.
