Hi,

The Patriarch's Page of the SHORT DNA has been updated, and now contains the lineage of S-44 and that of S-1, both said to be descended from William SHORT who died 1659 in Surry Co., VA, and both through his son Thomas born about 1643. From there, the lines diverge, with S-44 being through Thomas's son Robert, and S-1 through Thomas's son William.

As a reminder, the DNA results of S-1 and S-44 show they are not related.

Note on the listing for S-1, the comments by them that the first three generations (William-Thomas-William) are taken from "Short , An Early Virginia Family," compiled by Josephine Short Lynch and are "NOT proven." I have not personally viewed this book, but will when I have the chance. Meanwhile, anyone familiar with the book that has any comments about her sources, evidence or any assumptions regarding these first generations, those would be appreciated.

This may be where the differences in the DNA of S-1 and S-44 arise, if in these early generations she has tied two unrelated SHORT families into one.
