I am looking for anyone with information pertaining to my Shorey family name. My Great-Grandfather was Harold Shorey and he was married to Etta Shorey. They lived in the Montpelier, Vermont area.I am told that his ancestors migrated from Iowa to New York and finally to Vermont. Prior to settling in Iowa, the family is rumored to have originated in Canada, but with the Surname,Charest. I am very interested in the change in the name because Charest is of french origin and Shorey of English. Does anyone out there know about this change?
