Thomas William Shore and Mary Elizabeth Tilman are my gg grandparents. I have not found their death dates and places yet. I received correspondence from a cousin indicating that their family legend says that the body of Thomas was sent to the South. Thomas was married first to Sarah Jane Tharp and had at least 4 children. I have searched all the cemeteries in La Grande, Oregon. They are not buried there or in Summerville. Thomas and Mary moved to Summerville, Oregon sometime in the 1870's. He was a medical doctor there, perhaps the first one in the Grande Ronde Valley.
Pure speculation: Thomas could have died and his body been shipped to the South. Or, he and Mary could have retired to their roots in their old age and died and been buried there. I think the answer may lie with the descendants of Thomas and Sarah. Please let me know if you find their death dates and places. I would be happy to share what info I have.
