Robin, thanks for the information, but yes I have checked into that project, and while very informative, it does not shed any light on my present position. John Shoff of Berks County is still a mystery in many ways. Are you descended from the Frederick Shoff of Lancaster County? This line of Shoffs (from Lancaster County) seems to be the most probable link (somehow) to my John Shoff who spent at least 30 years of his life in Caernarvon Township, Berks County and then died in Allen Township, Cumberland County in 1803.
