Could someone please help?
My great grandfather, PETER SHOCK was born in Brownsville PA. on June 22, l855.He married Viola Wheeler of Pittsburg in 1874.My sister has researched tax bills and census reports and feels that he is the son of GEORGE SHOCK, born between 1810 & 1820 in the western PA area. She feels that GEORGE married a woman named TAMER around 1844 and that they were living in the Perytownship area in Fayette Co. She thought that GEORGE'S siblings were:HENRY b.app. 1820, FRANCES b.app.1825, THOMAS b. app.1831, JACOB b.app. 1834, ELIZABETH b.app.1836-1840, and SAMUEL b.app.1838-1841.
GEORGE & TAMER SHOCK in the 1880 census lived in Brownsville,Pa. and had five sons, JOHN b.1845, WILLIAM b.1848, GEORGE b.1852-54, PETER b.1856(my great grandfather), and ALFRED b.1867.
Can anyone help me verify this information. When I first started I accepted my sister's research as fact but am starting to believe much more verification is needed. All I am sure of is PETER SHOCK was born in Brownsville in 1856 and died in Lancaster, Ohio on Jan.4, 1932.(I list the information my sister found because I can find nothing about PETER on the internet or the Family Tree Maker Archives Companion set)I am planning to visit PA to do some research on my own but any help directing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
