You may have more luck looking under the other variation of Shoat which is Choat/Choate. I have several Choate/ Choat/Shoat variant spellings. The only Hamilton Choate I could find is in 1850 Fentress Co TN census as being 20 yo in the household of Thomas Choate p789 #256 & a Deed that has Charles Smith selling to Hamilton Choate 12/06/1854 & witnesses John Culver & Thomas Choate. Do you have any other info on these Choates? I have a couple of books & some newsletters of the Choate family
