My information says "The Master Baker, Mr. Schoff (this would be Jacob) of Hornberg, a town in the Black Forest, now belonging to Baden, but then part of Wurtemberg-a town fromthe Middle Ages a center of trade in the Rhine Valley, for travellers toward Paris from Vienna or Venice."
"Mr. Schoff and his family... seem to have arrived at Heilbron in May of 1752, and were at the "Golden Ox" Inn. From there the whole family went on Leucht's transport to Rotterdam, where they found it impossible for all to go on one ship. Jacob, who was probably the oldest son, sailed on the "St. Andrew" reaching Boston on September 19, 1752. Rudolph Schoff arrived at Philadelphia on September 23, 1752, on the ship "Ann Galley." Another son, Friedrich went the same month to New York. Young Johann Henrich (John Henry), arriving in November at the age of thirteen, may have been the youngest son of this family, and was therefore required to wait at Rotterdam with one or both of his parents until they could book passage."
The preceeding paragraphs are a direct quote from a book I have regarding several early families.
