Good Morning,
I have three sets of Hunter's in the family - two on my side and one on my husbands. The two : A Thomas Hunter b/1830 m/1x Elizabeth Dimmitt (Dimit),2x her sister Lavinia. They were in Westmoreland Co Pa but ended up in Idaville, Indiana.
We also have Hunters out in Clearfield Co Pa. John Hunter b/ 1785 m/ Ellen. Robert Hunter b/Aug 3, 1812 in Scotland married Sophia Swanson. His son John b/ 1837 m/ Jennie VanDyke. What is interesting with this family is when I visited the graveyard where they were buried there were also Shoaffs (Shoff) there. I wrote down one Cameron Shoff Johnson because he or she was buried among my Hunters. My mother said we were related somehow with the Shoaffs but I have never found it. These Hunter's came into the country around 1848.
On my husbands side: Jesse Wallace McGaffick m/ Elizabeth Hunter b/ 1802 d/ 1895. I am not sure of her parents (They may have been Thomas and Isabella Hunter) but they all lived in Beaver Co Pa and went to the Four Mile Presbyterian Church and are buried there. Again what is interesting here is in the 1880 census Jessie and Elizabeth have a nephew living with them named, Ewing George.
I can give additional info on my Hunter's. Colleen
