Bayse
Has anyone figured out with some proof or evidence the surname of the wife of Christian Shively of Jefferson County, Kentucky?I think that we can all agree that her first name was Mary.Someone on Rootsweb has posted that her last name was Bayshore. They go on to state that she was born on February 10, 1755 in Bethel Township, Lancaster County, PA.The also have her married to Christian on about 1751.This would be about 4 years before she was born.
Has anyone done any research on the Bayse Family? There are several Bayse’s buried in the Shively Family Cemetery. They would be the following:Margaret Bayse, April 27, 1852 – November24, 1917, Grandville Bayse, May 26, 1841 – June 29, 1921 and George W. Bayse1874 –1943.I copied this information that was recorded in the summer of 1935 by Mrs. Margaret Phillips and Pauline N. Bowman. From what I can figure they did this for the Kentucky Society of the D. A. R.I would love to know how they knew that George W. Bayse was going to died in 1943.
Someone on Rootsweb has posted that Christian Shively’s wife Mary was a Bayse and that their daughter Mary married a Rudy. All that I can figure out is that the Bayse’s and the Smoot’s seem to follow the Shively’s.There may even be some close marriages in the family cousins marrying cousins.Walter Burke Shively
