Years ago when I was into genealogy I would correspond with Alice Freed from time to time. I wonder if she is still living I have not heard from her for some time. I think that Larry Shively took over the Shively Newsletter that she started. At the time she lived in Caldwell, Texas and then she move to somewhere in Kentucky. I also used to correspond a lot with Lottie McDowell and talk with her on the phone. She was sort of the care taker of Shively History. The William Shively that was a Jefferson County deputy sheriff was related to my William Shively but not the same person. The William Shively that I am talking about was the son of Christian Shively. He was married to Nancy Earickson Shively his children were Benjamin F., John H., Kitty Ann, Sarah Jane and Norborne. William is buried in what is know as the Smoot Family Cemetery off of Lower Hunters Trace. He is actually buried between two house on Mariam I believe the street name is. The last time that I was there children were using is grave stone as a kick stone for a swing set. He fought in the War of 1812. The story about Redstone has been around for sometime—Lottie McDowell stated that there was a gravestone in Shively, Ky that refer to that town. This grave stone was not in the Shively Family graveyard—she new the location and I search for it but was told that it had been destroyed years ago by developers. Norborne Shively is another person that I have search for—for sometime—he must have died early in life – there is lost court papers that have his brother Benjamin in charge of his family. Benjamin was a river boat pilot who lived in Saint Louis. I am thru the line of John Henry Shively who married Clementine Camp Shively.
