I think I can help. When George Rogers Clark floated down the Ohio River in 1778 and established the settlement that became Louisville, Daniel Boone saw that route as an added opportunity for settlers to KY. In 1779, Boone persuaded a number of Redstone (now Brownsville) PA residents to migrate to KY by the river. Among them were Christian William Shively and his 3 brothers. The Louisville Free Public Library has a small book by A. S. Freed (Ann Shively) called Biographical and Research Data for Shively Researchers. It is located on the first floor in the KY room and is not for circulation. It may help you. I believe your ancestor, William, was a Jefferson County deputy sheriff. Let me know if I can be of further assistance. I live in Shively and would be willing to give you a tour of the cemetery and other landmarks if you are coming to the area.
