The document designating John Shively as heir at law of Michael Shively, deceased, is dated 8 Jul 1788; therefore John could not be inheriting directly from his grandfather, Michael, because his father (possibly Martin) was deceased, since the site referred to by Mr. Woodbridge shows Martin dead in 1809.
