The article I have states this about Elder George Shively, "He came from Virginia to Stark County (Ohio) in an early day". "When his children began moving to Indiana in the forties, he too came and settled in the eastern part of St. Joseph County." His eldest son Jacob (my great great great grandfather)was born in Stark County, OH July 23, 1820. This would most likely mean that George was in his late teens or early twenty's when Jacob was born. I would estimate his time in Virgina was in the 1800 - 1820 range. It's possible that his father was a minister. Elder George "was called to the ministry" in Stark County, Ohio. Three of his six sons were also ministers. The church was The Church of the Brethren. I hope this information has given you some clues. Thanks for looking into it for me.

Joy
